Tatlock Bookkeeping is owned and operated by Gwen Thirlwall. Gwen is an entrepreneur, mom of three, avid gardener, accomplished gluten free baker, and best of all a wizard with taxes.
Gwen started her first business in 2002 when she wanted to stay home with her firstborn son after her maternity leave ended. Selling maternity and baby clothes from her home she began to learn how to manage small business finances, GST, and taxes. As life and parenthood progressed Gwen returned to work for not for profit organizations which showed her another side of financial mangement and accountability. Her entrepreneurial spirit never left and she had a side business selling gluten free baked goods at the local farmers' market which stressed to her the importance of running a business no matter how small, properly in order to succeed. Since 2015 she has been managing, including financial management, the successful family business Tatlock Tractors. In 2017, with the birth of her third child, she decided to change her professional life again and work full time from home so she could be there with her son, and get him on and off the school bus. Gwen returned to school on-line to complete the two year diploma in Business Accounting program, her infant at her side. She opened Tatlock Bookkeeping in January 2020, and while COVID has thrown some unexpected curveballs, she is currently focusing on the part of finances she likes best, taxes.
With both an Honours Bachelaureate in Science from the University of Guelph, and a diploma in Business Accounting from the Algonquin College, Gwen has the expertise not only to skillfully manage your taxes but do the extra research if a complex or unique issue arises. Gwen is also Video Tax News Tax Ninja, a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Xero Advisory Certified and is an expert at working with Excel.
